The scholarship was established to honor Gregory D. Goldsmith, Kate Hughes Rinzler and David Williams.
To apply for a Goldsmith Rinzler Williams (GRW) Scholarship, an applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU); or Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) with at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in in the areas of sports administration or business management (with a concentration in restaurant, hospitality, or entertainment management). The first Goldsmith Rinzler Williams Scholarship was awarded to Chelsea Stanley of Delaware State University on August 7, 2011.
On July 1, 2014, the Foundation’s Executive Director Vanessa Purnell announced that five students were selected to five Goldsmith Rinzler Williams Scholarships for the 2014-15 school year. The award recipients are:
- Justin Jenkins, Hampton University
- Christi Thomas, University of Maryland Eastern Shore
- Daryl Jones, University of Maryland Eastern Shore
- Sylvia Richardson, North Carolina Central University, and
- Chelsea Stanley, Delaware State University
Donations to the SEPA Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, can be sent to P.O. Box 18783, Baltimore, Maryland 21206 or made electronically. 100% of the funds donated to the foundation goes towards scholarships.
